Olympic Village Guided Tour - 23rd May 2012 - review

Last week, 55 members and their friends went to London by coach for a guided tour of the Olympic Village. The clement weather enabled us to see the amazing sites of the Olympic Village and other venues in the East End of London where Olympics events will be held. Most of the permanent venues are now complete and look amazing - a real feat of engineering!. The finishing touches are being put to landscaping the surrounding areas on the Lea Valley river and installing temporary buildings for catering and security.

We had a refreshing morning coffee and wholesome lunch in a traditional British pub in Docklands, followed by afternoon tea at the Woolwich Arsenal, where we briefly visited the museum and its wonderful exhibition of tapestries.

Altogether a very interesting day!
