Visit to Buckingham Palace with our Salzburg Guests

26th September 2012

Last week our group joined in the 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrations by taking our Salzburg guests, their hostesses, our members and their friends on a day trip to London, to visit two iconic exhibitions.

We started with a morning visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum where we visited an exhibition of "Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950". Iconic examples included dresses worn by Princess Diana, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, young Royals and many celebrities including Helen Mirren, Liz Hurley and Bianca Jagger.

After coffee and a light lunch in the famous V&A William Morris Cafe, we travelled to Buckingham Palace where we visited the Buckingham Palace State Rooms and an exhibition of "Diamonds", displaying masterpieces in the Queen's private collection never shown in public. The visit concluded with afternoon tea and cakes in the Palace Garden Cafe.

Our Salzburg guests were delighted to be taken to Buckingham Palace, and the once in a lifetime exhibition of Queen's diamonds.
